Sean Penn plays an ageing goth in Paolo Sorrentino's ('Loro', 'The Great Beauty') English language debut, nominated for the Palme d'Or and starring Harry Dean Stanton and Frances McDormand ('Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri').
Ageing rock star Cheyenne (Penn) still dresses 'Goth' and lives in Dublin off his royalties with his wife. The death of his father, with whom he wasn't on speaking terms, brings him back to New York. He discovers his father had an obsession: tracking down the Nazi who persecuted him in a concentration camp. Cheyenne decides to pick up where his father left off, and starts a journey, at his own pace, across America.
